Hey everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to share an update on the MMOARPG project that has been a labor of love for several years. This project has had its ups and downs, with a few pauses along the way, but I’m thrilled to say it’s finally coming together for an Alpha release.
The Rollercoaster Ride
This journey has been far from linear. At one point, the base framework needed a complete remaster, which set us back as we waited for the add-ons to catch up. However, this was a blessing in disguise, allowing us to source various content for the initial launch. Much of this content is now set up in the project as available assets.
Current Focus
Our current focus is on refining the stats, skills, and combat systems. We’re meticulously working on animations and timings to ensure the gameplay is as fun and engaging as possible. Following this, we’ll be reworking the chat system, implementing an interserver manager, and finishing the setup of the multi-zone system. We’re also figuring out the best use for additive scenes.
Beyond the Game Client
Outside the base game client, I’ve been busy developing a Launcher with a patching system and a content management system (CMS). The CMS, built on WordPress, includes a custom plugin that lets us create various types of content which can then be exported as game assets in the build pipeline. This system allows non-dev types to contribute to content creation. The WordPress site will integrate with Patreon and Discord, helping us build a community with custom roles and privileges to create, edit, and update content.
Infrastructure
We have a small footprint in a data center where we’ll be running builds, storing repositories, hosting servers, and managing other necessary infrastructure during the alpha stages. This setup ensures we have a stable environment for development and testing.
Personal Growth
Over the past few years, I’ve immersed myself in cybersecurity, corporate infrastructure, and development across various languages and environments. This has been essential in preparing me to execute this project as an indie developer. I’m still looking for team members to join me on this journey, but if no one else steps up, I’m committed to making it happen on my own.
Thank you all for your support and patience. I can’t wait to share more updates as we move closer to the Alpha release.
Cheers,
